HINDI
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of
Arts, York University, invites applications for a tenure-track position
in Hindi, at the Assistant Professor level, to commence July 1, 2008,
subject to budgetary approval.
Ph.D. in a field relevant to teaching Hindi language and/or culture is
required. The position will have a primary emphasis on teaching Hindi
language at all levels, therefore experience teaching credit courses in
Hindi language and South Asian culture at the university level is
required. Experience teaching Hindi literature or culture is an asset.
Familiarity with multimedia materials and approaches is desirable, as is
a background in language programme development and coordination.
The person appointed will have a current record of relevant publications
and conference presentations in the areas of Hindi language, culture,
literature or linguistics. The successful candidate must be suitable for
prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Native or near-native fluency in Hindi and English is required.
