With this issue Himalayan Linguistics officially inaugurates a new category
of contribution: Field Reports:
Field Reports are descriptive studies which either provide a brief
introduction to a language with little previous literature or present a
coherent analysis of a single linguistic subsystem (e.g, relative clauses
or tense-aspect marking). The primary goal of Field Reports is to increase
the descriptive resources available on Himalayan languages. This contrasts
with the primary goal of articles, which is to advance our understanding of
theoretical, typological, or historical issues. Field Reports are peer
reviewed.
