Subject: tenure-track Hindi position at the University of Texas
The Department of Asian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track position in Hindi at the rank of Assistant Professor, anticipated to start in Fall 2018. Evidence of doctoral training in the study of literature is essential. Specialization can be in any aspect of Hindi literature, translation, or literary studies. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong research profile while teaching a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including a gateway course on South Asian culture and history as well as topical undergraduate courses and graduate-level seminars, and to play an active role in the development of the graduate program and of South Asian studies across the disciplines in the College of Liberal Arts. Applicants should also be prepared to supervise independent student research at the undergraduate, M.A., and Ph.D. levels, and to contribute to the service demands of the Department of Asian Studies and the University of Texas. Salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by August 15th, 2018. Evidence of experience in teaching the Hindi language at all levels is a must.
