[ACLA-CAAL] relationship between spoken proficiency and its elements

hi
i want your precious apinion about the following:
1.In order to find the relationship between speaking proficiency and its elements, would it be good to compare the IELTS   overall band score acquired by an individual with the individual section band scores? Here overall band scores will represent general speaking proficiency and individual section scores represent proficiency in certain elements of speaking i.e fluency, pronunciation, grammar and lexical resource. 
2. Is Examining the relationship between spoken proficiency andits elements an appropriate topic for the above study?
