 'Le français et ses frontières'

7-9 septembre 2023 à l'Université de Lille

Organisée par Emmanuelle Canut et Juliette Delahaie, Professeures des Universités en Sciences du langage, STL UMR CNRS 8163 - Université de Lille.

La prochaine conférence annuelle de l'AFLS se tiendra du jeudi 7 au samedi 9 septembre 2023 à l'Université de Lille en France (en présentiel uniquement). L'Université de Lille se situe en région Hauts-de-France, sur un territoire en mutation, zone de passage migratoire vers l'Europe du Nord et le Royaume-Uni mais aussi zone d'accueil des étrangers, et ville frontière de la Belgique. Dans ce contexte, la conférence annuelle se propose d'aborder les problématiques linguistique, sociolinguistique et didactique du français et ses frontières en explorant :


  *   la dimension (socio)linguistique : quelles variations (spatiales, situationnelles, linguistiques), variétés et usages du français observe-t-on à l'intérieur ou au-delà des frontières ? Quelles politiques linguistiques y sont associées ?
  *   la dimension acquisitionnelle/didactique : quelles contraintes impliquent les frontières physiques et/ou psychologiques sur l'apprentissage de la langue, notamment en contexte migratoire ? Quels impacts sur l'enseignement du français dans et hors frontières ?

Il s'agit donc de questionner les frontières de la langue française en tant que limite bornée finie mais aussi en tant que bordure plus lointaine et plus perméable.

Les propositions ne portant pas spécifiquement sur cette thématique seront également considérées dans la mesure où elles s'inscrivent dans les axes traditionnellement privilégiés par l'AFLS.
Les propositions peuvent prendre la forme d'une communication ou d'un workshop sur une thématique commune (panel de 4 présentations suivies d'un temps de synthèse/discussion).
La durée des présentations est de 30 minutes (20 minutes suivies de 10 minutes pour les questions). Les workshops ont une durée de 2h.
Les résumés de 300 mots maximum (incluant titre et références bibliographiques) sont à envoyer en document Word à afls2023 at univ-lille.fr<mailto:afls2023 at univ-lille.fr>
Pour une proposition de workshop, mettre la présentation et les 4 résumés dans un même document.
Les résumés devront être anonymes, et devront préciser (via 5 mots-clés) à quel domaine de recherche ils s'appliquent.
Les langues du colloque sont le français et l'anglais. Les propositions doivent être rédigées dans la langue prévue pour la communication.

AFLS Annual Conference 2023
'The French language and its borders'

7-9 September 2023, University of Lille (France)

The next AFLS annual conference will take place from 7 to 9 September 2023 at the University of Lille in France (in person only). The University of Lille lies in the Hauts-de-France Region, a changing territory, a migratory passage zone towards Northern Europe and the United Kingdom; the Hauts-de-France Region is also a reception zone for foreigners, and a border city with Belgium. In this context, the annual conference proposes to address the linguistic, sociolinguistic and didactic issues of French and its borders by exploring:
- the (socio)linguistic dimension: what variations (spatial, situational, linguistic), varieties and uses of French might be observed within or across borders? What language policies are associated with them?
- the acquisitional/didactic dimension: what constraints do physical and/or psychological borders imply on language learning, especially in a migratory context? What are the impacts on the teaching of French within and outside borders?

It is therefore intended to question the borders of the French language as a finite boundary but also as a more distant and permeable border.

We invite papers that address any topic in the broad area of 'The French language and its borders / Le français et ses frontières' or that fall within the areas traditionally covered by AFLS. Papers taking a wide variety of theoretical and methodological approaches are welcome.

Proposals may take the form of a paper or a workshop (panel of 4 oral papers followed by time for synthesis/discussion).
Speakers will be given 30 minutes for oral papers (20 minutes, plus 10 minutes for questions). The workshops will not exceed 2 hours.
Abstracts may be submitted via the EasyChair platform: https://colloque-afls-2023.univ-lille.fr/. Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words (including title and references), plus 5 keywords. For workshops, put the presentation and the 4 abstracts in the same document.
Abstracts should be anonymized, and should state explicitly which field they focus on (using the keywords to do so).
Conference papers are welcome in either French or English, and abstracts should be written in the language of the presentation.
