Not too further confuse things, but with regard to the EDIE-CECTAL list, after three tries I think my subscription request went through. After the first two tries I had not exactly followed the instructions, but I believe the following format was accepted: subscribe EDIE-CECTAL Michael Gottlieb (it won't accept ">" or any extraneous markers)
