Anyway, yeah, it's a Czech word, but for all I know it may come from Yiddish
originally, because a lot of Czech--mainly colloquial--words do (either from
Yiddish or from German). "Pupek" is not just a child's or generally
colloquial word, though--it's the "standard" word for "navel."
