"Big Muddy" (Missouri or Mississippi RIver?); Barbeque (1760s)

In my experience, the Missouri is the muddier of the two. The
Mississippi is *really* muddy below St. Louis, about where the Missouri
joins it. Flying over below the merge point, you can clearly see where
the dirt and muck of the Missouri remains separated for many miles
without blending with the Mississippi. One strip is reddish brown, one
strip is much clearer, more of a gray translucence. SInce the
Mississippi below St. Louis is most of the river--wider and longer--
then I guess you might as well call it the "Muddy Mississippi",
althought the Missouri is at least partially to blame.
