   Greetings from Tbilisi, Georgia.
No one remembers my antedate of "hat trick" in the old ADS-L archives?...The Wordspy didn't remember my "kitchen sink"? Maybe I should re-post all the old antedates?
There's a dreadful response to the "Ode to OED" at www.villagevoice.com "letters."
I'll have virtually no time to go to the National Library here in my one free lunch hour tomorrow. My tour guide, named Tamara, promises some slang, but Tamara never comes.

THE GEORGIAN FEAST
by Darra Goldstein
1993: HarperCollins, New York
1999: University of California Press, Berkeley
229 pages, paperback

This won the Julia Child Cookbook Award Book of the Year for 1993. It's a good one.
The author admits that there's no JOY OF COOKING for Georgia. The best cookbooks she cites are from 1959, or 1969 Time-Life RUSSIAN COOKING.
Under the bibliography for travel, she lists Sir John Chardin's 1686 book, which is indeed good. I've cited from it. I'll try to find other sources to antedate these terms beyond 1950, but it'll have to wait until I get back to the NYPL.
Most all of the following should, in my humble opinion, be in the OED:
