According to the 30 Jan. Daily Star [Lebanon]

Egyptologist Zahi Hawass "...reportedly coined the term 'pyramidiots.'"

In 1971 John David Wortham, The Genesis of British Archaeology, 1549-1906
used "pryamidiot" of Charles Piazzi Smith and others. I have not seen his 1967
(c1968) U. of Texas Ph.D. dissertation, Uraeus: a History of British Interest
in the Antiquities of Egypt.... Hawass was an Egyptologist by 1971, so this by
itself does not exclude him as the possible coiner.
