"well-shod" = wealthy

Not in OED, this appears to be a recent synonym of "well-heeled."  The quote has no particular reference to the quality of one's shoes:

  1993 Hans P. Guth & Gabriele L. Rico, eds. _Discovering Literature_ 289 (Englewood Cliffs, N.J.: Prentice Hall) 289: Westchester...is a suburban community for well-shod commuters to New York City.
