collateral damage

I heard a new meaning of "collateral damage" from a former US Army paratrooper. He was describing what happened when a (mentally challenged) pilot missed the drop zone and unloaded the paratroopers into a forest. "It was a matter of looking at the woods and deciding which tree to hit to have the least collateral damage."

OT: from a meeting notice "group will meet in the smallest room in the Ventnor Library." Luckily there were no British recipients of that e-mail.

OT: the take-out menu from one of our office's favorite lunch take-outs reads "For orders under $20, $1 will be added to the bill for fuel for our driver."
