Robt. Weissman, on the Clinton-era repeal of Glass-Steagall:
  "Citigroup's co-chairs Sandy Weill and John Reed led a swarm of
industry executives and lobbyists who trammeled the halls of Congress
to make sure a deal was cut." (I don't know what he was reaching for
with "trammeled," but it was clearly not the halls of Congress that
were trammeled, but the regulations & regulators of banks.) Perhaps a
blend of /tramped/ & /traveled/.
