In the current sense of course:

1976 John Hadfield _A Book of Beauty_ (N.Y.: Universe Books) v: A book of
beauty - the title begs so many questions that I must first admit how few
of them it answers.

Hadfield (1907-1999) was an English novelist and publisher.  This book
originally appeared in 1952, but at least some of the quoted Introduction
was revised in 1976.
