Membership in the Association for Linguistic Typology includes receiving
the journal LINGUISTIC TYPOLOGY and it is the publisher of our journal,
Mouton (Berlin), that collects the annual journal-inclusive membership
fee.

ALT members considered to be in good standing will have received issue
5-1, the first of the 2001 volume, and soon thereafter also the invoice
for the complete volume.

The large majority of ALT members have paid the membership fees in
previous years by credit card. For those members, the invoice will
actually state CONFIRMATION OF ORDER AND INVOICE and AMOUNT ALREADY
DEBITED TO YOUR CREDIT CARD. The large majority of ALT members will
therefore not undertake any action whatsoever to remain in good
standing. They will see their financial duties reflected in their credit
card bills.

Those members that earlier paid through a bank transfer to either of the
two Berlin banks mentioned at the bottom of the invoice may do so again.
They can, of course, consider changing to the generally much cheaper
strategy of paying by credit card (see below).

New members will also have received issue 5-1 as well as the invoice.
They can either execute a bank transfer to the Berlin banks mentioned at
the bottom of the invoice, but they should consider paying by credit
card.

To pay the ALT membership by credit card for the very first time - or
for the first time with a new credit card, just in case you no longer
use the same credit card - send back the original invoice and write on
it the phrase PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD, the name, number and expiry date
of your credit card, your name, the date and then sign. The return
address is: ALT membership, c/o Katja Höllein, Mouton de Gruyter,
