Today I received a request seeking contributors of World Education Encyclopedia
entries briefly sketching (in 250-500 words) the educational systems of
Kiribati, Nauru, New Caledonia, Niue, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Wallis &
Futuna, among other states from various parts of the globe. (See below. I also
received text attachments with guidelines that I won't pass on to the list.) I
know several of you are capable of contributing. If you are also willing and
able, please contact Rebecca Marlow-Ferguson <World.Education at galegroup.com>,
not me. Everyone else, please hit delete. My apologies for the clutter.

My name is Rebecca Marlow-Ferguson and I am an editor at Gale Group, a
premier reference publisher in Farmington Hills, Michigan (USA). I am
currently working on the World Education Encyclopedia, 2nd edition (WEE)--a
three-volume set of essays detailing the educational systems of more than
200 countries around the world. Gale intends to publish an edition of WEE
that will reflect the world we live in and the changes in educational
systems, both valuable to anyone interested in the comparative analysis of
world education systems and a better understanding of world education in
general.

To create this new edition, I need educational experts to research and write
the essays that will make up WEE's 2001 edition. In the course of my
research to locate potential contributors I discovered the Community of
Science (COS) database on the Internet. That is where I found your name.

I would like to ask if you would be interested in contributing to the
Encyclopedia by writing an essay on the educational system of one (or more)
of the countries on the attached list. The essay would need to be completed
and in-house here at Gale by April 13, 2001. Please read the additional
attachments for further details about WEE. Also, please feel free to pass
this message on to an interested colleague (or colleagues).

Please contact me and let me know what you think. Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,

Rebecca Marlow-Ferguson
