Dear Mr. Mehall
If you mean by taltalah (with tA') putting a kasra under the prefix of the
"muDari`", (many meanings for this word in muHiiT al muHiiT), then one of
the greatest references on the subject is "kitAb baHth al maTAlib" of Bishop
Germanos Far.hAt (1670-1725) in which Boutros al BustAni himself studied.
In page 35 of the fifth edition (Jesuit press, Beirut, 1899) Far.hAT
condemns such use and calls it, "little" and "weak"  (lu.gaT KalIlaT wa
Da`IfaT lA ya^grI `alayhA 'a.had).  He does not call it taltalah.  I hope
this helps you.
