Subject: Arabic vowels query

Salam All,
I need a fast and as precise as possible an answer on how many vowels Arabic
language has, excluding the diphthongs(ai,au,etc.) I know the basic three [ae]
as in the English cat [kaet]and the long [u:] as in the English hood [hu:d]
and the long [i:] as in the English heed [hi:d]. If there's any specific
reference, pls let me know. If you can provide with a list of words including
these vowels, that will be great, something like the English list: bead, bid,
bed, bad, bod(y),
bawd, budd(hist), booed, bud and bird.
Thanks a lot,
Mohammad Al-Masri.
