Assistant Professor of Arabic Language and Culture

The Department of Classical and Semitic Languages and Literature at the
George
Washington University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track
assistant professor of Arabic and coordinator of the Arabic program, to
begin
in AY 2004-5.  The candidate will be expected to teach language
courses, plus,
where needed, courses on Arabic literature and culture in the original
language and in translation, and to staff, supervise, and shape the
entire
Arabic language program, under the oversight of the chair of Classical
and
Semitic Languages and Literatures.  PhD expected by August, 2004.
Desiderata:  fluency in Arabic, high level of proficiency in MSA,
commitment
to research and publication, experience in Arabic language instruction,
knowledge of current pedagogical methodologies.  Send letter of

dossier including three letters of reference, and a publication or
writing
sample to
