Subject:Phonosymbolism response

For work on Arabic phonosymbolism, see 2 articles of mine: "The Alchemy
of Sound: Medieval Arabic Phonosymbolism" (in "Humanism, Culture, and
Language in the Near East," edited by Asma Afsaruddin and A.H. Mathias
Zahniser - Eisenbrauns, 1997) and also "Alchemical Phonology: Science,
Sound and Mysticism in the Arab Middle Ages" in "History of Linguistics,
1993" edited by Kurt R. Jankowsky (John Benjamins, 1995). See also the
excellent PhD dissertation by Elizabeth Johnson Wright, at Georgetown
University: "Sound and Meaning in Medieval Arabic Linguistic Theory"
(2000).
