Asst. Prof. of History of the Middle East/Arabic-Speaking/Islamic World

The History Department of the College of Charleston invites applications
for a tenure-track assistant professor in the history of the Middle
East/Arabic-Speaking/Islamic World.  The time period, subfield, and
regional specialization are open.  The successful candidate will teach
upper-level courses in his/her areas of interest and training, courses on
the pre-modern and modern Middle East, and survey courses in pre-modern
and/or modern history.  The successful candidate will be able to contribute
to interdisciplinary programs, such as Arabic Studies, African Studies,
Jewish Studies, Urban Studies, and/or Women's and Gender Studies.
 Candidates must have, or expect to complete, a Ph.D. in History before
August 15, 2014.

The College of Charleston is a public liberal arts and sciences college.
 Located on a historic campus in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, it is
the nation's thirteenth-oldest institution of higher learning.  Additional

plans to conduct preliminary interviews with selected candidates via Skype
and invite finalists to campus.
