low volume with linked media

Hi everyone,
I have a group of CHAT files with linked media, but the sound is playing at 
an extremely low volume, even though the media files played just fine on 
other programs (audacity, praat, quicktime, etc.). I had the computer 
volume set all the way up and could barely hear the utterances via CHAT. 
Anyone experiencing the same issue and found a solution? I couldn't find 
any discussion on this, and would appreciate some pointers. Thanks!
