utterance delimitors

Hi childes team,

Last time I actually did transcription myself in CHAT (a while ago!) we added spaces before utterance delimiters:
e.g.
*CHI: I love cake .

I thought that rule had changed and we no longer needed to do so:
E,g,
*CHI: I love cake.

But the CHAT manual seems to be inconsistent - examples sometimes have spaces and sometimes don't. Can you let me know what the new convention is?

Thank you!

Caro
