Need help learning the Chinook language

Good to hear from another interested person...

"Written Chinook [Jargon]" is more difficult than the spoken language, as
you mention, because it's inconsistent.  However, there's a very
consistent version of written Chinook Jargon, and that's the Grand Ronde
way of writing.  The reason this is easy to use is that it's written
phonetically, eliminating the problem of the old-fashioned, popular
written sources:  Not knowing how to pronounce the words.

(Note that due to the limited abilities of email, there's a separate email
version of Grand Ronde writing.)

At any rate, one of your best resources is to go through our list's
archives on the Web, at the address below.  Also, our gathering this
August at Grand Ronde Reservation in Oregon will be an extremely powerful
learning experience, I think, as last year's was in Canada.

I'll leave it to others to suggest favorite learning materials to you
also.
