Hyup, hyup is often spelled "giddyap." I think it's the same word, but the actual sound when yelled isn't giddyap in my experience. There are distinct loud vowels in addressing a team - an "ah" sound for turning left (haw), an "ee" sound for turning right (gee), and an "uh" or long "i" sound in "hyup" or "hiy." nadja
