>From the University of Alaska (Fairbanks) newspaper archives' index, this
most interesting item. I'd like to find out whether it contains any CJ as
well. -- Dave

TONGASS WA-WA

                Newspaper's History:

Dates when publication began and ceased are unknown, but
according to correspondence from Fort Tongass seen by Alaska
historian R.N. DeArmond, it was published around 1869. It was a
manuscript paper. "Wa-wa" is the Chinook jargon word for "talk",
per Aug 29, 1994 letter from Mr. DeArmond to the Alaska Newspaper
   Project staff.
