Jim and all,

Sorry for the delay in responding.  I don't know an etymology for
skasayt.  I wish I did.  I too have wondered about the dual prefix in
that case.  

Skasayt is actually not Chinuk Wawa and I didn't mean to imply that it
was.  As you noted it is Kathlamet and like some other non CW words a
few of us make efforts to keep them current (known by our kids, etc.).
Another example of that is t'susEq which is a "nail" in Lower Chehalis.
We learned it in one way or another (from Tony Luscier in this case),
found it useful and of course are compelled to keep it living.

Regarding Cultee: Tony Luscier said qElti'.  I believe Harrington
recorded his mother (Emma) saying it the same way although I would need
to check.  Of interest (and regarding stress in family names), Tony's
family name commonly written Mallet or Millet (?sp) is also stressed
finally.  Tony was very clear that they were Mille'ts.

	Blue Heron's specifically.  

	By the way: I never knew the word Blue Heron as a child because
my family always called them "Bay Center Turkeys."  Bay Center is the
Chinook Indian community where many of us come from in recent years.
This includes my family, my wife's family, as well as many well know
Chinooks like Charles Cultee and Emma Luscier.  I can't really say why
they were referred to that way.

	Oh, and as for Scott inquiry about Robin's name-we usually say
"pil tutush" or "pil tutush kala-kala."  I don't know that this is as
taught by our elders, but is a good fit. Some of us also use the word
"skasayt" which is one of the original words from the area.
