Professor Wilks,
So... I am to understand that an appeal for civility in academic
discourse - especially in the context of intensely felt disagreements
- is a "slimy, back-handed ad hominem reprimand"? Clearly the "ad
hominem" isn't of my design. I rest my case, and withdraw from this
unseemly interaction.
