Hi Stefan,

using the "advanced search" of "Duden. Das große Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache" on cd-rom I find numbers in similar proportions to those mentioned by Sven Hartrumpf:

feminine nouns: 64756
masculine nouns: 49764
neutral nouns: 28285

Of course, you have compounds within these, and you have "Busfahrerin" or "Trickbetrügerin" next to "Busfahrer" and "Trickbetrüger" (but this is just fair here, I suppose) -- so it depends on the type of "type" you are asking for. But as an idea ...
