[Corpora-List] Annotation layers: missing reference

Dear Karen,

I guess it may be hard if not impossible to find an ultimate reference for  
annotation layers because the "idea" you're looking for is substantially  
older than our modern understanding of linguistic annotation. In fact,  
"annotation layer" is just the technical operationalization of traditional  
linguistic notions ranging from Benveniste's "niveaux d'analyse" to  
Jackendoff's "tier".
