PhD research position in professional/intercultural communication

The Norwegian School of Economics is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of PhD Research Scholarships. These scholarships are available for the six specializations in the PhD programme at NHH; Accounting and Auditing, Economics, Professional and Intercultural Communication, Finance, Management Science, and Strategy and Management.

The PhD programme offered by the Department of Professional and Intercultural Communication aims to give dedicated students solid training in performing high quality research within one of the Department's five research areas: language resources and technology, terminology and terminography, discourse analysis and genre studies, specialised translation, and intercultural communication. Candidates may be included in current research projects. For more information about the Department's research areas and projects click here <http://www.nhh.no/en/research---faculty/department-of-professional-and-intercultural-communication/research-areas.aspx> .

The programme is based on close cooperation with other national and international institutions offering similar programmes. The Department is a member of The National Research School in Language Science and Philology <http://nafs.uib.no/>

Each scholarship is for a period of four years and combines taking a PhD programme at NHH with working as a research scholar. PhD research scholars are required to work as a teaching and/or research assistant for the department they are admitted to on enrolling in the PhD programme. The work requirement corresponds to 25 % of a full position a year, with the remaining 75 % being dedicated to the successful completion of a PhD.

The annual salary for PhD research Scholars is set according to the Norwegian State Salary Scale: State Salary Scale 48, which is currently 391,100 NOK gross (approximately Euro 51,000 or about USD 67,000). The scholarships are subject to Norwegian taxes and benefits, including health care provision and membership of the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

Applicants must fulfil the admission requirements of the PhD programme. Qualified applicants with research proposals that fit best with the research interests of the department concerned will be prioritised. The prioritised research areas within Accounting and Auditing, Economics, Professional and Intercultural Communication, Finance, Management Science, and Strategy and Management are outlined in the programme information provided for each of the six specialisations. In the event of equivalent qualifications, female applicants will be given preference.

Further information about the PhD programme and admission requirements can be found at www.nhh.no/phd <http://www.nhh.no/phd> . Enquiries regarding admission requirements, PhD Research Scholarships, application procedures, etc. may be directed to the PhD admission office at NHH: phd at nhh.no <mailto:phd at nhh.no> .

The application for the PhD Research Scholarships is combined with the overall application to the PhD programme. All applicants to the PhD programme will automatically be considered for scholarships, unless they request otherwise. The deadline for the current round of applications is 1 February 2012.
