Check your library's index for Maledicta (ISSN 0363-3659).  That journal
has certainly published articles on the classification of insults,
though usually restricted to a particular domain, language, style, etc.
 For example, Vol. 1 (1977) has an article "Taxonomy of Metaphoric Insults".
