There is a lot of work on genre analysis coming out the City University of
Hong Kong - Vijay Bhatia enbhatia at cityu.edu.hk comes immediately to mind.
Here is a blurb from http://www.cityu.edu.hk/en/staff/vijay/vijay.html which
outlines his interests. If he can't help directly, he can probably point you
in the right direction.

My main research interests are applied genre analysis of academic and
professional discourse, including, legal, business, newspaper, advertising
and other promotional genres; ESP (Theory and Practice); simplification of
legal and public documents; cross-cultural and disciplinary variation in
professional discourse, and I have taught courses in most of these areas. I
have (in collaboration with others) worked on a number of projects, some
completed, others on-going, some of which include, UNDP-Government of
Singapore project on the Teaching of English in Meeting the Needs of
Business and Technology [1984-87]; Changing Patterns of Genres and Identity
in Hong Kong Public Discourse [1995-1997]; Teaching English in Meeting the
Needs of Business Education; and Strategies and Competencies in Legal
Communication.

I'm forwarding the following request, since this isn't my area of
expertise. Any recommendations I can pass along?

Thanks,

I have been told you are a specialist on discourse analysis and I would like
to know whether you could help me in finding updated bibliography on
'genre analysis'.
I am currently working on a research project for a PH. D. in Pedagogical
Sciencies. It has to do with a methodology for the teaching of
written medical genres. The first part of the research involves the analysis
of these genres. Unfortunately, the access to information on this topic is
very limited because there are no texts or courses on the area.
If I could count on you, this would be the real start of the project.
Thanks
in advance.

Sincerily yours,
