Description:

The Department of Linguistics and Communication Disorders of Queens College
of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks to fill a tenure-track
position at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 1, 2006, with
a specialization either in applied/second language phonology or second
language literacy/educational linguistics. Salary range: $35,031-$61,111,
commensurate with qualifications and achievement; excellent benefits. This
position will be shared equally between the Department of Linguistics and
Communication Disorders at Queens College of CUNY (teaching in bachelor's
and master's programs in TESOL and applied linguistics) and the Research
Institute for the Study of Language in Urban Society (RISLUS) of the Ph.D.
Program in Linguistics at the Graduate Center of CUNY (managing existing
research projects, locating funding sources for new research projects, and
writing grant proposals). Candidates must have earned a doctorate related
to language and/or literacy by June 2006 and should evidence promise of
excellence in teaching and research. Demonstrable research and teaching
experience in issues involving urban L2 minority students and previous
experience and success in seeking research grants are highly desirable.

research, and grant writing interests and experience, and a current
curriculum vitae. In addition, letters of reference should be submitted

The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Linguistics, invites
applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Applied Linguistics
to begin in the Fall Term 2006, pending budgetary approval. The
appointment is at the Assistant Professor level or above, depending on the
credentials of the applicant, with senior rank possible if the candidate
has the appropriate experience and an established international reputation.
Applicants should have a solid training in applied linguistics and/or
second language acquisition, classroom teaching experience, and knowledge
of a language in addition to English. Preference will be given to
candidates with expertise in research methodologies and/or classroom-based

reprints or other written work, and teaching evaluations (if available).
