Under the impact of globalization, the past decade witnessed a growth of interaction between China and the Nordic countries in many and varied educational fields, including joint research and publication and mobility initiatives at different educational levels. For example, since the success of Shanghai, Singapore and Hong Kong in the OECD’s PISA studies, cooperation between these places and the Nordic countries has increased. Due to the request of innovation in education from the Chinese government, educational institutions in China are willing to borrow ‘good’ practices from the Nordic countries.
An increasing number of PhD projects are also being conducted on different aspects of Chinese education from the perspectives of the Nordic countries and vice versa. A few research projects are being carried out on mobility programs for Chinese students studying in Nordic countries and vice versa. This rise of mutual interests thus calls for attention in educational studies. In order to obtain a broader view on educational studies concerning mutual perspectives between China and Nordic countries, this volume thus proposes a non-exhaustive ‘snapshot’ of research about Chinese education that is currently being done in the Nordic countries and in China.
The volume intends to include studies on philosophical, conceptual and methodological issues, as well as micro-level empirical studies.
Topics include but are not limited to the following aspects in relation to China or Nordic countries with an angel from their counterpart:

•      Education philosophies and history

•      Theories and methodology of education and learning

•      Education systems, policies and decision-making

•      Educational cooperation projects between the Chinese worlds and the Nordic countries

•      Teacher education and practices

•      Chinese teachers in the Nordic countries, Nordic teachers in the Chinese worlds

•      Chinese language teaching, Nordic language teaching in the Chinese worlds

•      Educational development projects such as leadership development programs, internationalization initiatives among others

•      Educational evaluation and quality assurance

•      Educational practices such as teaching and learning, curriculum development, among others

Acceptance notice by end of February 2016
