The appointee will assist in a research project on translation/interpreting
learner corpus. Duties and responsibilities of the appointee will involve
but are not limited to a) transcription of speeches and/or other
information in English and/or Cantonese/ Putonghua; b) linguistic
annotation and analysis (e.g., error analysis) of transcribed speeches in
English and/or Cantonese/ Putonghua; and c) assisting in the development of
computer tools for corpus annotation and corpus navigation.



Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree and/or above, with some
post-qualification research experience. They should have a strong
background in at least one of the following areas: translation/interpreting
studies, corpus linguistics, applied linguistics, and/or education
research. Proficiencies in English and Chinese are expected. Previous
research experience, in particular working knowledge in learner corpus and
experience in data annotation, will be a plus.



Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of one year.
Re-appointment thereafter is subject to mutual agreement and availability
of funding.
