[Edling] International Multilingual Research Journal announces new Associate Editors

The *International Multilingual Research Journal (IMRJ)* is proud to
announce the addition of two new Associate Editors, *Deborah Palmer
*and *Kellie
Rolstad*, as we bid a grateful farewell to outgoing Associate Editor *Megan
Madigan Peercy. **IMRJ*’s new Associate Editors will join continuing
Associate Editors *Jin Sook Lee* and* Danny C. Martinez*, Editor-in-Chief *Jeff
MacSwan*, and Editorial Assistant *John Chi*.

*Deborah Palmer, **IMRJ* Associate Editor, is Professor of Equity,
Bilingualism and Biliteracy in the School of Education at the University of
Colorado Boulder, and affiliate faculty in the Department of Ethnic Studies
and the Culture, Language and Social Practice (CLASP) Program. A former
dual language bilingual teacher in California, she is a qualitative
researcher who conducts critical ethnography and discourse analysis in
bilingual and multilingual classrooms. Her interests include bilingual
education policy and politics; dual language bilingual education; teacher
preparation for linguistically/culturally diverse teaching contexts;
teacher advocacy and activism; and issues of language, power and identity
in schools. She recently co-authored a book, *Dual Language Education:
Teacher Cases and Perspectives on Large-Scale Implementation*. Her articles
have appeared in a range of journals, including *Theory Into Practice,
Review of Research in Education, Education Policy Analysis Archives, *the*
Journal of Language, Identity and Education,* and the *International
Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism*.

*Kellie Rolstad,* *IMRJ* Associate Editor, is Associate Professor of
Applied Linguistics and Language Education at the University of Maryland.
Professor Rolstad earned her PhD in Education at UCLA, where she also
earned degrees in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. Rolstad previously
worked as a teacher in a bilingual elementary education program in the Los
Angeles Unified School District. Her research interests include the
language of schooling, language diversity, language education policy,
digital and unschooled learning and literacy, and democratic education. Her
work has appeared in the *Bilingual Research Journal, Teachers College
Record, Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences, Educational Policy, Annual
Review of Applied Linguistics, *the *International Journal of Bilingual
Education and Bilingualism*, the *Journal of Language, Identity and
Education*, and in edited collections.

*Jin Sook Lee,* *IMRJ* Associate Editor, is Professor of Education, an
affiliated faculty member in Linguistics and Asian American Studies, and
Associate Dean of the Graduate Division at the University of California,
Santa Barbara. Her research, which has been funded by the Foundation of
Child Development, the National Institute of Health, and the National
Science Foundation, focuses on the sociocultural processes of language
maintenance, development, and education in multilingual youth. Her recent
publications include a co-edited book, *Feeling It: Language, Race, and
Affect in Latinx Youth Learning *(2018, Routledge), and articles in *Review
of Research in Education, International Journal of Bilingual Education and
Bilingualism, Linguistics and Education, Journal of Early Childhood
Research, *and the* Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development.*
 She is a former Fulbright Senior Scholar in Applied Linguistics and also
serves on the editorial boards of the *Bilingual Research Journal, Language
Arts, The Korean Language in America, Journal of Asia TEFL, *and* Language
Teaching for Young Learners*.

*Danny C. Martinez,* *IMRJ* Associate Editor, is Associate Professor at the
University of California, Davis School of Education. Dr. Martinez’ research
explores the cultural and communicative practices of Black and Latinx youth
in secondary literacy classrooms, and teacher learning as it relates to
leveraging, leveling and sustaining youth practices. Martinez’ research has
been published in the *Review of Research in Education*, *Anthropology and
Education Quarterly*, the* Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy,
Linguistics and Education, English Education*, and *Urban Education*, among
others. Dr. Martinez is a former secondary teacher of English Language Arts
and English Language Development in San Francisco and Los Angeles. He
earned his PhD in Education at UCLA.

*Jeff MacSwan,* *IMRJ* Editor-in-Chief, is Professor of Applied Linguistics
and Language Education at the University of Maryland. He is also Professor
of Neuroscience and Cognitive Science and affiliate Professor in the
Department of Linguistics. His research program focuses on the linguistic
study of codeswitching, translanguaging theory, and on the role of language
in the education of multilingual students. His work has appeared in
the *American
Educational Research Journal, Bilingualism: Language and Cognition, Lingua*,
the *Bilingual Research Journal, World Englishes*, and *Language Teaching
Research*, among others. He recently co-edited *Codeswitching in the
Classroom: Critical Perspectives on Teaching, Learning, Policy, and
Ideology* (Routledge, 2021) with Christian J. Faltis. He is a Fellow of the
American Educational Research Association and of the National Education
Policy Center, and the 2021 recipient of the AERA Bilingual Education
Research SIG Lifetime Achievement Award and the Second Language Research
SIG Leadership through Research Award. MacSwan previously taught
linguistically diverse middle and high school students in Los Angeles
public schools.

*John Chi*, *IMRJ* Editorial Assistant, is a current PhD student in Applied
Linguistics and Language Education in the Department of Teaching and
Learning, Policy and Leadership at the University of Maryland. His research
focuses primarily on heritage language education, with an emphasis on
minority dialect speakers in the context of community-based programs. He is
also interested in the role of race and identity in language education,
humanizing education, teacher preparation for working with multilingual
youth, and language program evaluation.

*IMRJ* will say goodbye, with profound gratitude, to outgoing Associate
Editor *Megan Madigan Peercy*, who has served as *IMRJ* Associate Editor
since 2017. We wish her well in her new role as Associate Dean for Educator
Preparation and Undergraduate Studies at the University of Maryland. Megan
made critically important contributions to the success of *IMRJ* as it
continued to grow as a preeminent journal in the field. Thank you, Megan!

We are grateful for the many contributions of our outgoing team members,
and looking forward to the incoming team as we work to publish outstanding
research in the coming years.
