How to create a 'counting sounds' task (as a distraction task)?

Dear E-prime experts (users),
I want to give respondents a second distraction-task while they are learning to
categorize two types of stimuli (by means of a target display, stimuli display,
and a feedback display, for a number of stimuli). During the learning task they
have to count the number of sounds they hear. This is the distraction-task.

Is it possible to present a sound with an irrigular, random time interval during
the learning task? I can create the sound but only before and not simultaneously
(during the learning task).
