Foreign functions for e-prime

We are interested in running some experiments using e-prime interacting 
with an application developed on Phyton.
What would be the best method to interchange strings between both systems? 
A foreign function using a dll? 
I`ll appreciate if someone that faced a similar challenge may share his/her 
experience.
