"whenever" for "when"

A point of clarification. As a speaker of a dialect apparently similar to
that of Suzette, I do not control this usage of "whenever". While I will
need to listen more closely for exact quotes, I have heard it in many
cases where my dialect licenses only "when". As I mentioned, I hear it
almost exclusively among people at least 5 years younger than me (I'm 31),
primarily my undergraduate students.
