age of "whenever" users

It has now become clear that my initial observation that those who used
"whenever" in contexts where I use "when" were mostly or exclusively under
the age of 25 was simply incorrect. In fact, after I posted my initial
query, I had a conversation with a colleague (from Houston) who is a
"whenver" user and is nearly 40. I think I hear it most from the
undergrads around me and then overgeneralized. Sorry for the confusion.
