Try Virginia Valian's book, _Why So Slow?_, MIT Pr.
I think she reviews a bit of this work.
It might be a cite of Beth Haslett's work.
Also, perhaps Donna Eder talks about this in a piece on faculty
meetings.
Which might have been in some language and gender anthology.
