Dear Kate,

Sorry to rspond to your last message with such a delay.
Actually, I did not plan to post a summary of the replies to my question
because there was scarcely anything to summarize. But here is all I got,
besides your reply.

- A couple of people said, they did know anything relevant.

- Jose Luis Aliaga Jimenez suggested the following:
Tucker, R. et alii. 1970. «Le genre grammatical des substantifs en
francais:
analyse statistique et etude psycholinguistique», en Actes du Xe Congres
International de Linguistes, III, Bucarest, Editions de l'Academie de la
Republique Socialiste de Roumanie: 279-290.
 Teschner, R. V. y W. M. Russell, 1984. «The Gender Patterns of Spanish
Nouns: an Inverse Dictionary-Based Analysis», Hispanic Linguistics, 1 (1):
115-132.
Perez Pereira, M. 1991. «The Acquisition of Gender: What Spanish
Children
Tell Us», Journal of Child Language, 18: 571-590.
Sanchez Sadeck, J. et alii. 1976. «The acquisition of the concept of
grammatical gender in monolingual and bilingual speakers of Spanish», en F.

Aid et alii (eds.), 1975 Colloquium on Hispanic Linguistic, Washington,
Georgetown University Press: 131-149.

- Somebody else suggested Hellinger/Bussmann's Gender across languages
2001ff, which however contains nothing directly applying to what I have in
mind. I know that, because I am one od the contributors (3d volume).

- Finally, Neslihan Yetkiner suggested
Laura Sabourin's (University of Groningen, The Netherlands) Ph.D.
dissertation (just finished) on grammatical gender & second language
processing (Isabourin at psch.ubc.ca), which I am expecting to get soon.

With best wishes,

Soula
