Linguistics and English Language: Lecturer in Sociolinguistics

The University of Edinburgh seeks to appoint a permanent, full-time  
Lecturer in Linguistics & English Language within the School of  
Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences.
You will have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in sociolinguistics or a very  
closely related academic subarea; experience of teaching  
sociolinguistic topics at university level; and an excellent and  
developing research programme in an area that has potential for  
attracting external funding and relates to sociolinguistic variation  
or other social aspects of language.  Candidates whose research has a  
quantitative orientation, and/or who have the ability to teach the  
use of statistics in research in the language sciences, are strongly  
preferred.

Intended starting date for appointee is 1 August 2010.

Salary Scale: £36,715 - £43,840
