The Ethics Team is delighted to be hosting
“Graphic Medicine at Work” at 6pm on Friday 27th
April 2012 in the Lecture Theatre at Brighton and
Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex
Campus. Presenting their comic works, Dr Muna Al
Jawad (Consultant in Elderly Medicine, BSUH –
talking about comics as a qualitative research
method); Nicola Streeten (Billy, Me & You, 2011 –
a graphic novel of grief and memory on the loss
of her two-year old son); and Nye Wright (Things
to Do in a Retirement Home Trailer Park, 2012 – a
moving portrait of a young man coming to terms
with his dying father) will reflect on how comics
and graphic memoirs can be a vehicle to
illustrate issues around health, illness, life,
death and clinical practice. The presentation
will be followed by a Q&A session.
