Announcing *IGALA 7 Student Paper Award* 
(Submission Deadline: April 30th, 2012)

The International Gender and Language Association (IGALA) is calling
for *language and gender* outstanding student papers. The theme of the
IGALA 7 2012  conference is *Resignifying Gender and Sexuality in
Language and Discourse* and both undergraduate and graduate students are
encouraged to submit papers which work within this broad thematic area.
More specific topic areas in this area are detailed below:

1. Gender, sexuality, body and identities
2. Gender, sexuality and health
3. Gendered performances as discourse
4. Gender and (dis)empowerment
5. Gender, class, ethnicity and age
6. Gender, sexuality and institutions
7. Gender, media and technology
8. Gender and violence
9. Gender studies in (applied) linguistics
10. Gender and sexuality in literature 

Submissions should be 5,000- 7,000 words in length, in Word (.doc)
format, Times New Roman 12 pt. font, and will be accepted in English,
Portuguese or Spanish. Submissions should not have been published or
accepted for publication elsewhere and co-authored submissions are
acceptable as long as all authors are undergraduate or graduate
students. Submissions co-authored by advisors are not allowed. 

Submission should be emailed as an attachment to:
<IGALA7paperprize at gmail.com>. Please include your name, address,
department and university, telephone number, and email address in the
body of the email; in addition, indicate your status as an undergraduate
or graduate student. 

Awards to be presented at the IGALA 7 conference, June 20 - 22, 2012 at
Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS), São Leopoldo, Brazil.
