[gothic-l] Digest Number 182

Hello,

First, since this is my first post, I should introduce myself. I have a
strong interest in Germanic - Roman history and religion. Basically,
anything from the first encounters up through the Norse contacts is of
interest to me. Nice to meet everyone.

Regarding the specific question here, there's a fair amount of secondary
information on this topic. The Goths and The History of the Goths both
address this period. Also, a quick overview can be found in The Early
Germans.

Looking at it the other way, there's some interesting reading in J.B. Bury's
Barbarian Invasion of Europe and, of course, in Gibbon.

Cheers

Christopher
