[gothic-l] Gothic and why we study it

Studying Gothic, is much the same for all of us.
Acemdemic Couriosity? Love of a Mystery? To have
something secret we can impress friends with?
To give us insight into our own Lingo English, or
related lingos.
I get into it for various reasons, but it historical,
such as knowing they survived until the 18th century.
No, I expect few of us will make much money if at all
from the study of Gothic, unless we become professors,
and or writers like Professor Tolkien. We do it for
the fun of the subject, to see how things fit together
or just for the idea of bring a "dead" lingo to life.
