On the new female grave in Jaerrestad new info
is now coming to light. It was an aristocratic
woman of wealth with six very elaborate buckles.
She had a charm around the neck and a 20 cm
needle to keep her hair in order. 250 pearls of glass
and amber have so far been found. There is Black
Sea area drinking cup and two ceramic vessels,
probably made for the funeral.

The remains of a large Iron Age farmhouse
have been found making archaelogists think
that Jaerrestad during the Iron Age was a
center of a chiefdom. The main building
was around 40 meters long, ten meters broad
and boatformed. The total area was 300 square
yards, a place in wood. Glass couldn't be made
in Scania during the Iron Age so all glass had to
be imported. The base of an almost similar
house was found in Tissoe on Zealand in Denmark
not so long ago. In the Scania grave found last weekend
a bronze comb made in Hedeby and jewellery made
in Germany were also detected.

More later, perhaps.
