The correct spelling in Gothic would be "Wulfila", weak masculine
declension, meaning "little wolf" (wulfs, wulfa- "wolf" + diminutive
suffix -ila). The name is rendered by Greek and Latin authors as
"Ulphilas" or "Ulfilas". "Wulfilas" is a combination between Wulfila
and Ulfilas.
